Hari Sankar Prasad Jaiswal, a revered figure in the world of Indian classical music, is the founder of the Divine Indian Music Center. Born into a family deeply rooted in musical traditions, Hari Sankar’s journey into music was significantly influenced by his father, lt. Gulab Das Jaiswal, who was both his first teacher and his inspiration. Gulab Das Jaiswal was a talented musician, proficient in playing the flute and harmonium, and his passion for music deeply inspired young Hari.

Belonging to the illustrious Banaras Gharana, Hari Sankar began his musical education at the tender age of five. His initial training was under the tutelage of Pt. Mahadev Mishra, renowned as the Thumri Samrat, and Padma Shri Pt. Shivnath Mishra. This early exposure to masters of the craft laid a solid foundation for his future endeavors. He further honed his skills and expanded his musical horizons by studying under the legendary Padma Vibhushan Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, one of the greatest flutists of all time.

For over 25 years, Hari Sankar has been dedicated to teaching students from around the globe. His commitment to spreading the beauty of Indian classical music has taken him to numerous countries, including Switzerland, France, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Nepal, and South Africa. Through workshops and stage performances, he has captivated audiences and imparted his knowledge to aspiring musicians worldwide.

At the Divine Indian Music Center, Hari Sankar teaches various instruments, including the flute, tabla, and djembe. His teaching philosophy emphasizes not only technical proficiency but also the emotional and spiritual connection to music, reflecting the rich heritage of the Banaras Gharana.
